The Government has decided Land Information New Zealand should review the sale of Crown land before the sale goes through.
Apr 26, 2007 12:04:22
Minister David Parker say it is an interim measure until the Government decides on a final policy for dealing with the sale of sensitive land. A review of Crown land sales was launched in February after Landcorp's proposed sale of Whenuakite Station on the Coromandel Peninsula sparked an occupation by local iwi. Under the interim process government departments and Crown agencies will notify Land Information NZ when considering selling land deemed sensitive under the Overseas Investment Act or has a value of $1 million or more.
