Microsoft Banning Under 18s in NZ from downloading off the Xbox live Marketplace
Jul 16, 2009 03:32:09
Basically the NZ government has cut off Marketplace entirely from players under 18 years of age. This isn't just FEAR2 and Condemned themes and map packs, etc but EVERYTHING, even G rated Ice Age 3 demos, etc. Apparently this isn't even a law either, the authorities simply collaborated with Microsoft to do this. .I'm a bit fuzzy on the details but if you were to go to http://forums.xbox.com/4/27724052/ShowPost.as px#27724052 youll find many more people also have this problem. Anyways, I, aka TheAntiBlink have apparently found this agreement between Microsoft and the NZ Gov to be in conflict with the Consumer Guarantees Act due to it not being law, and also because of the fact Microsoft advertises the fact we can download on Xbox Live , Oh and just so you know, a second account isn't possible for me as my normal account has lots of MS points, many months of XBL subscription left as well as being tied to my normal email, B.Net account, etc. I and loads more people have tried setting the location in my 360's settings to Australian, some people have even tried linking their Gamertag to another email account with an age over 18 but but NZers like me still cant download anything. Ive also checkedmy family settings and none are enabled either so unless it's a glitch it's not a one-off case. Again if you refer to: http://forums.xbox.com/4/27724052/ShowPost.as px#27724052 you’ll find that many more have this problem, with many now giving up completely! Hopefully you can put this on the news so we can be heard...and if its ok, could i keep my email anonymous?
