Madonna's Pre-Teen Clothing Line To Hit UK Stores
Dec 26, 2006 05:12:49
London, England (AHN) - It look's like being a successful entertainer is not enough for the queen of pop. According to reports, Madonna is looking to add successful designer to her resume as the girls' clothing line inspired by a book the Material Girl wrote for children is set to launch in the UK.
The clothing line is said to be inspired by Madonna's first illustrated book for children, The English Roses. According to Dot Music, the Material Mom and manufacturer Lipstik Clothing used illustrations from the book as inspiration for the clothing designs.
According to publicity material for the clothing line, "The vivid colors and trend-setting design have made Madonna's The English Roses the hippest line of girl's clothing on the market."
News editor of fashion trade magazine Drapers, Rachel Barnes, said it was notoriously difficult to break into the UK children's clothing market, reports Dot Music.
Barnes says, "To create a lucrative brand, she'll have to pick one look and stick with it.
"The difficulty is that the kids' market is all about price in the UK. We don't spend much on kidswear, particularly with the rise of supermarket fashion. So it may do better in Europe than here."
