Patrick transition releases suggestions for new administration

Governor-elect Deval Patrick's transition team today released the feedback it received from more than 7,000 people who attended a series of community meetings and over 5,000 suggestions that were submitted to the new administration through it website.
The information, which was complied into 15 reports, will be reviewed by Patrick and Lieutenant Governor-elect Timothy P. Murray as they form their new administration. All of the information can be viewed on the transition's website by clicking here.
In total, over 76 meetings were held with the goal of gathering ideas from residents across Massachusetts. The outreach was part of an effort to continue what Patrick aides described as a renewed sense of civic engagement aroused during his campaign.
"Throughout his campaign, Deval Patrick said that he wanted to see people check back in and take an active part in their government," said John Walsh, Director of the Transition, in a statement. "The tremendous success of these Working Group Community Meetings, and the reports on ideas straight from the people of Massachusetts show that citizens of all ages and backgrounds want to check back in and are ready to take the next step in building an inclusive, grassroots government."
The meetings tackled issues that included technology, education, workforce and economic development, heathcare, and the environment. Last week, the leaders of each of the groups briefed Patrick, Murray, and other officials about their findings.
