A Mount Maunganui beachfront house has set a new property record for the region, selling for $8 million.
The buyers spotted the newly-built, two-level home at 92 Marine Parade on the internet.
Previous owners and developers, Trevor and Karen Love, now living in Kerikeri, initially wanted $8.5 million, the Bay of Plenty Times reported.
The land totalling 1401 sq m was valued at $5.3 million and there was nearly $3 million worth of building – including the 663sq m home, four-car garage, all-weather synthetic tennis court, 14.5m lap pool and boat and trailer parking space.
The buyers wished to remain anonymous.
The deal beats the previous record of $6.45 million for the top floor, 340sq m penthouse (with swimming pool) in the yet-to-be-built twin tower complex at 11 Maunganui Rd.
