Daniel de Ridder has vowed to make an instant impact at Birmingham City after becoming Steve Bruce's latest recruit in his assault on the Barclays Premier League. The 23-year-old Dutchman, who starred for his country as they retained their European Under-21 crown last month, was out of contract with Spanish side Celta Vigo and joined Blues despite interest from Ajax, where he began his career. The midfielder expects to hit the ground running at St Andrews. He told the club’s official website, www.blues.co.uk: “The Premiership is the most exciting league in the world but I have played for Ajax in the Champions League and in La Liga for Celta Vigo, so I am used to a high level of football. “If you look at the teams and the players in the Premiership now, I think my style of football will suit this league.
