MOURINHO PLEASED WITH SQUAD BALANCE
Jul 11, 2007 03:07:59
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists he is happy with the balance of his squad as he plots to wrestle the Barclays Premier League title from Manchester United's grasp next season.Lyon winger Florent Malouda this week became the Blues’ latest capture as the France international followed Tal Ben Haim, Steve Sidwell and Claudio Pizarro into Stamford Bridge. Geremi is the only big-name player to so far exit the London club, although Khalid Boulahrouz is expected to follow the Cameroonian within the next few days.
And while United and Liverpool have been particularly prominent in the transfer market, Mourinho does not feel under pressure to match them with big-name signings, hinting that Malouda’s arrival could prove to be the last this summer. “We don't care what our rivals are doing,” he said. “It is not our problem. We have what we want and we trust the squad we have and the new players we have because we know they can give us something and they can improve our squad. “Everything is the same. That's because it is a good squad. We trust them and we know the success they had in the last three seasons with this group.
