Ronaldo belted home an amazing 23 goals as Manchester United ended their four-year title drought last term.

In also helping the Red Devils reach the Champions League semi-finals and the FA Cup final, Ronaldo made such an impact he scooped every individual honour going, becoming the first player to win both PFA player and young player of the year awards since Andy Gray in 1977.

Having renewed his commitment to the Old Trafford outfit by signing a lucrative new contract which runs until 2010, Ronaldo has taken just two games on United’s Far East tour to prove he remains a man in form.

The Portugal winger scored against both Urawa Red Diamonds and FC Seoul last week and will hope to make it a hat-trick on Monday when Sir Alex Ferguson’s men tackle Shenzhen in the former Portuguese colony Macau.

And United fans know it will not be long before Ronaldo is strutting his stuff on the major domestic stage again, eager to cause some significant damage.

“I try to improve every season,” he said.

“I have been in England for four years now. In my first season, I scored seven goals, in my second I scored nine, then 12 and last season I got 23.

“I have been playing well so far. I feel good and I feel fit and I have been helping the team.

“Hopefully, I can continue to do that because I hope to win the league again and I hope to score a lot more goals.”
