The Holy See on Weblo
Oct 02, 2007 18:08:14
 | | | The Holy See, the oldest and largest beaucracy on the face of the earth, the oldest diplomatic body in the world, the only autonomous monarchy in Europe, the sovereign of the smallest country in the world that has the smallest standing army in the world, and the representative of 1 out of every six persons on earth, has a solid presence in the virtual world of Welbo.
As governor of the Vatican City State and owner of the Holy See, I assume I can be called the Pope of Weblo! As the Pope of Weblo, I invite you to visit the many Vatican sites in our growing virtual world. You will see that the Vatican is a treasure trove of culture and the arts. The Vatican is the only country that is registered as a country with UNESCO as a world heritage site and is the only sovereign state protected by international law from all acts of aggression in order to preserve the cultural magnifence found within the walls of the Vatican complex.
If you would like to contact the Pope of the real world, please write Pope Benedict XVI at benedictxvi@vatican.va. If you would like to contact the Pope of Weblo, send an email to zoras1@verizon.net.
| | | | When Karol Józef Wojtyla became Pope John Paul II in 1978, email was still in its infancy. The first email had been written seven years ago, but barely a handful of people knew computer networks existed at all.
Yet, John Paul II became the first email-savvy pontiff in history. In late 2001, the pope reportedly apologized for injustices committed by the Roman Catholic Church in Oceania via email. Of course, the Holy Father would have preferred to visit the Pacific nations and deliver his words of penitence in person, but email was the second-best choice. | | | | | | | | | | |
