The Nebraska Supreme Court has ruled that two men convicted of a 1985 murder have the right to ask for DNA tests to try to prove their innocence. In two separate rulings, the high court says earlier district court rulings were wrong to deny the tests on the basis that they wouldn’t provide evidence that would absolve the men.The men, 41-year-old Thomas Winslow and 44-year-old Joseph White, have been convicted of killing 68-year-old Helen Wilson in her home during an assault and robbery. Experts testified at their trials that she had been sexually assaulted. The state argued against the tests, questioning whether biological samples were still good and saying Winslow gave up his right to tests with a plea deal.
