New Spa Underway
Construction of the new 17,000 square foot spa at the Hot Springs Lodge & Pool is underway. The new spa will have eight massage therapy rooms and one specialized hydrotherapy treatment room. Tub treatments, manicures and pedicures will also be offered.

R.A. Nelson of Avon is the contractor for the project. Smith Club & Spa Specialists in Basalt serve as consultants for the project and OLC Architects of Denver will oversee the architectural and interior designs. Completion of the project will be in phases with the spa opening in the fall of 2008.

Reconfigurations to the Athletic Club racquetball courts, ventilation systems, showers and bathroom areas are also taking place in the historic sandstone structure.

Construction will be contained in a defined area so will have very little impact on Hot Springs Pool patrons.

Entrance to Athletic Club Moved to Pool Lobby
The Athletic Club entrance is temporarily relocated to the main Pool lobby during the renovation phase.

In addition, the parking lot directly in front of the Athletic Club will be used as a temporary construction staging area.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this renovation process. We are working diligently to make the Athletic Club better than ever!

CO Hotel & Lodging Association Selects Hot Springs Employee, John Graves, as Employee of the Year
After reviewing dozens of nominations, the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) has selected John Graves with the Hot Springs Lodge & Pool (HSLP) as the statewide Employee of the Year in the Non-supervisory Administration and General category. The award was presented at the CH&LA Annual Conference held at The Broadmoor resort in Colorado Springs on Monday, October 22.

Graves began his employment with HSLP in 1986 as a desk clerk at the newly opened Hot Springs Lodge and was then promoted to interim lodge manager for a year. With an expertise in accounting, Graves has served as the revenue auditor since October of 1989.

“John is a valued member of our team here at the Hot Springs and is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the operation. He is well deserving of this distinguished honor,” proclaims Kjell Mitchell, HSLP COO/General Manager.

An active member of the Glenwood Springs community, Graves is a former city councilman and is an advocate for downtown business activities. He and his wife, Sharon, own a local bookstore called Through the Looking Glass.

Along with the recognition plaque, Graves received a certificate for a vacation getaway at a Colorado lodge and dining establishment.
