In the Name of the King opened this weekend in theaters across the nation but it was inside the walls of LA’s Shrine Expo Center earlier today that two of the film’s stars appeared in person for the LA Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention.
Two talented beauties, Kristanna Loken and Leelee Sobieksi took to the stage, answering questions from convention-goers and then talked privately with IESB about their roles in the film and what they’re planning for the future.
Loken plays Elora who she describes as a “Six-foot Tinkerbell.” Having worked with director Uwe Boll before on
Bloodrayne, Loken was ready to go as soon as she read the script. “Swinging from vines sounded like fun,” she laughed.
Sobieski, meanwhile, plays Muriella. “I got the script sent to me and I read it,” she recalled, ”I read things in the bathtub and if they hold my interest for the whole bath then that’s it. I read it in the bathtub, had a great time and got out – turned into a prune and I jumped on it. I thought it would fun to play a princess with magic powers.”
The fantasy-aspect of
King was somewhat familiar to Sobieski. She spent part of her childhood in the
south of France where she learned horseback riding and relates some of the medieval themes to her lead role in
Joan of Arc:
“I was really quite comfortable being in armor and with a sword even though Joan didn’t do that much fighting herself. She was kind of just on the battlefield. I did a little tiny bit of sword training… I was super-excited that I learned to kick ass with a sword
