History of the FSU Warchant part 2

There are a few interesting twists inside the story. Did you know that the original arm motion was slightly different? Did you know that the University of Alabama fans once used the Seminole Warchant against the Miami Hurricanes? Did you know that the Seminole Tribe of Florida once played the Warchant in a radio advertisement to promote their casino? Did you know that the Warchant tune came from a Massachusetts High School? Did you know that the Atlanta Braves adopted our Warchant after seeing Deion Sanders signaling to a group of Seminole alumni at a Braves home game?

We likely never imagined in 1978 that Osceola & Renegade would become one of the most recognized and respected icons in collegiate football. And who among us heard that haunting drone in the early 1980s and thought it would blossom into the intimidating Chant. If you’ve watched the replay of the last ten minutes of the 1999 national championship game against Virginia Tech in New Orleans, you know the electric thrill that surged through the television speakers sounding as if the entire stadium was packed with Seminoles. When the Seminoles are winning, the entire national viewing audience hears that sound.

Since there seems to be such a strong interest in the subject among so many Seminole fans, let’s explore the Warchant story from the perspective of four people who were closely involved in its origin. They include Peggy Bazzell, Butch Rahman, Todd South and Tom Desjardin.
