RELEASE OF BABY SALMON IN STANLEY PARK STREAM
Vancouver, BC: Media are invited to the Vancouver Aquarium kick-off for a week of special programming (April 22-28) to celebrate Earth Day.
Tuesday, April 22, at 10:45 a.m., media are invited to join as fifth graders from Mount Pleasant Elementary in Vancouver help launch the sixth annual Goodbye Salmon Fry event (launch begins at 11am).
Then, the weekend of April 26 & 27, visitors to the Aquarium are invited for Goodbye Salmon Fry, each day from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hundreds of young salmon will be sent on their journey to the Pacific Ocean. They will be released into the Alcan Salmon Pool which connects to the BC Hydro Salmon Stream in Stanley Park. Participants will receive an official certificate for naming and releasing a baby salmon fry.
The Vancouver Aquarium’s week of special programming also includes our Earth Day premiere of “Think Again”, the Aquarium’s brand new show dedicated to the importance of research. Our week of special events also offers face-painting & crafts for kids, and Salmon: CSI. Daily tours of the Salmon Hatchery will also be offered during Earth Week.
