Outback Airlines looks to Mt Isa flights
Jul 23, 2008 13:47:13
The manager of Outback Airlines in Tennant Creek, in central Australia, says the company wants to expand its flights to include Mt Isa in north-west Queensland.
Ross Pollock says the first charter flights between Tennant Creek and Alice Springs went off without a hitch this week, despite a two week setback.
Mr Pollock says there is a shortage of skilled pilots in central Australia but he would like to be able to offer special deals to the general public.
He says a new aircraft, arriving in December, will offer an extra seat and more customer choice.
"We'd like to upgrade it to an airline service so that we can advertise to the public and offer specials and a whole range of prices and that sort of thing," he said.
"We're fairly limited at the moment. Once this settles down we'll be looking to do that, but we'll also be looking across to Mt Isa as well to try and replicate what we're doing, see if that sort of model works for Mt Isa as well."
