Dolphins Re-Sign Traylor; Sign UFAs Feely and Worrell; Sign FA Campbell; Host a Pair of UFAs
March 8, 2007 - The Miami Dolphins today re- signed defensive tackle Keith Traylor to a two-year contract and signed kicker Jay Feely to a three- year contract, an unrestricted free agent from the New York Giants and safety Cameron Worrell to a two-year contract, an unrestricted free agent from the Chicago Bears. In addition, the team signed wide receiver Kelly Campbell as a free agent and hosted wide receiver Donte' Stallworth and fullback Cory Schlesinger on UFA visits. “Re-signing Keith was an important objective of ours heading into free agency, and I am pleased that we were able to accomplish that,” said Dolphins Head Coach Cam Cameron. “Keith gives us a strong presence in the middle of the line, in addition to the veteran leadership that he brings to our team. He has been an integral part of the success of the Dolphins’ defense over the last two years and we feel as though he will continue to do that.” In 2006, Traylor started all 14 games in which he played and registered 36 tackles, including a career-high four sacks. He was part of a unit that yielded a 3.5-yard average per rush attempt, the fifth-best mark in the NFL last year. Traylor, entering his 16th NFL season, first joined the Dolphins as a free agent in 2005, and in his two years with the club, Miami has allowed an average of only 3.6 yards per carry. Feely is a veteran of six NFL seasons, who has spent the last two years with the New York Giants. In his NFL career, he has converted 156 of 196 field goals (79.6%) and all but two of his 225 PATs. In his two years with the Giants, he connected on 84.1 percent of his field goal attempts (58 of 69), in addition to totaling 255 points. He had the most productive season of his career in 2005 when he hit on 35 of 42 field goals (83.3%), including a 3 of 5 mark from 50 yards and out. He also converted all 43 PATs that year for a career-high figure of 148 points. Feely began his career as an undrafted college free agent with the Atlanta Falcons in 2001 and immediately helped the Falcons’ special teams unit as he produced 115 and 138 points in his first two seasons, respectively. In just his second year (2002), he connected on 80 percent of his field goals (32 of 40) and registered 138 points as the Falcons reached the Divisional Round of the playoffs. The 29-year-old Feely was a four-year letterman at Michigan (1995-98) where he concluded his career by converting 20-26 field goals and 43-44 PATs. He was a an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection as a senior when he was 17-22 on field goals and 40-41 on PATs. Born May 23, 1976, Feely attended Jesuit High School in Tampa, Fla. Worrell originally entered the league as an undrafted college free agent with the Bears in 2003. Since that time, he has played in 43 regular season games, all in a reserve role. He has totaled 20 tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery and two forced fumbles. In addition, he has been one of the leaders on Chicago’s special teams units, where he has ama
