For approximately 10 years, the Education
Department at Cincinnati Museum Center has
provided teachers, students and the general public
with innovative, stimulating, thought-provoking
programs that create the opportunity to discover
more about local history and natural history, as
well as child development.
They have a comprehensive programming list
which provides many options for students and
teachers, and our special exhibits and films create
an ever-changing experience for all.
Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition
Now through May 6, 2007
Cincinnati Museum Center brings back Titanic: The
Artifact Exhibition. Since it last showed in
Cincinnati, the exhibit has been re-designed to
focus on compelling human stories as told through
more than 300 new artifacts and more extensive
room re-creations.
The exhibit is a chronological journey through life
on the Titanic. Each visitor becomes a passenger
and feels the excitement of that April day as they
step into authentically recreated First and Third
Class Cabins and view actual artifacts recovered
from Titanic’s debris field. Unique personal effects
include postcards from doomed passengers such
as Edgar Andrew, who wrote, “I am boarding the
greatest steamship in the world, but I don’t really
feel proud of it at all, right now I wish the Titanic
were lying at the bottom of the ocean.”
In the Memorial Room, visitors learn about the
aftermath of the disaster, the relief funds and the
efforts to find over 1,500 lost loved ones. Visitors
feel the temperature drop, learn details of the
sinking, touch an iceberg and understand the
theories of this tragic tale.
