Saint Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Denzil Douglas expressed his gratitude for Cuban solidarity in the training of young persons from his country in nursing.

The prime minister was at the Mario Raudilio Fleitas School in the province of Matanzas to learn details about the 27 Saint Kitts and Nevis students currently receiving nursing training. He called the scholarships a "very tangible way" of measuring the degree of satisfaction of bilateral relations.

Minister Douglas also spoke about the positive impact students will have upon returning with nursing degrees and said that his country plans to send more students to study at the school.

The school’s president, Maria Magdalena Gonzalez Ortega, pointed out that there are 351 Caribbean students currently studying at the school from Jamaica, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. She said that the study program is based on a model that promotes moral, ethical, aesthetic and cultural values with the aim of developing well rounded nurses, capable of taking care of the health of the family and the community.

Denzil Douglas spoke with students, urging them to make the best possible use of their time and to learn everything they can. He added that the country was depending on them.
