Baltimore, Maryland (AHN) - Jada Pinkett Smith recently donated $1 million to her high school alma mater, The Baltimore School For The Arts.
The money was taken from the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation to help benefit the facility and its theater program. The expansion of the facility will reportedly cost $30 million and will be completed next year.
According to Eurweb.com, Donald Hicken, head of the theater program, said, "It means a lot when you're a teacher and your most famous alumnus comes back to give a donation. It really says a lot to the community that the school matters in people's lives."
Hicken was also Smith's former teacher.
The theater is set to be named after the actress-turned-singer, but she asked that it be named after her former classmate, Tupac Shakur, instead.
Alumni Smith graduated from the school in 1989.
