Washington, Apr 6 (ANI); Oscar winning director Martin Scorsese will deliver a master class on film making at the 60th Annual Cannes Film Festival in France, this May.
'The director, who won the best director Academy award for the 2006 film 'The Departed', will also announce the formation of World Cinema Foundation, which is 'an establishment devoted to the preservation and restoration of film classics at Cannes', reports Contactmusic.
Scorsese will present an award for the 'best film by a first-time director' at the festival's closing ceremony on May 27.
The festival's artistic director Thierry Fremaux said that Scorsese has a long association with the festival, and that will join the 60th anniversary celebrations as a friend.
"He has a long history with the festival, and we want our friends with us to celebrate the 60th anniversary," Variety quoted Fremaux, as saying.
Scorsese is the winner of the Palme d'or in 1976 for his film 'Taxi Driver', in which Robert De Niro played the tile role opposite a young Jodie Foster. (ANI)
