Wedding license in hand, Beyonc and Jay-Z threw an elaborate party Friday night with orchids and candelabras, and invited everybody closest to them – family members, Destiny Child partners Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and celebrity friends.
The only question was whether they had become husband and wife. The only vow for certain was the one for silence, as the cause for the clbre at Jay-Z's New York City apartment was wrapped in secrecy.
If it weren't a wedding or a reception, it sure had all the trappings of one. Consider the guest list: Beyonc's mother Tina Knowles, her father/manager Mathew, her sister Solange, her Destiny Child mates Rowland and Williams, and Jay-Z's friends Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Chris Martin.
They all arrived amid heavy wedding buzz that began when
the couple went to get a marriage license at a village hall in Scarsdale, N.Y., on Tuesday. "It's [happening] tonight," says a source. "A lot of their friends are booking hotel rooms."
DJ Cassidy, a favorite of Jay-Z, was hired to spin – and the gig was no bar mitzvah. "Cassidy mentioned a week ago that he was really excited for the Jay Z and Beyonc wedding party to happen," says a source.
Early Friday morning, workers erected a white tent atop the building, where Jay-Z owns a penthouse apartment. Not long after, an SUV carrying what seemed to be AV equipment arrived, followed by deliveries of party rentals and flowers.
A source tells PEOPLE that Amy's Orchids was hired to provide 50,000 to 60,000 white orchid blooms from Thailand for a "big party." At the apartment, waiters were seen practicing their service.
In town to party it up with fellow celebs at the Cannes Film Festival, newlyweds Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z were spotted arriving at the Nice airport in France on Thursday (May 22).
According to reports, Beyonce is also reportedly readying to record the theme song for the new James Bond film, Quantum of Solace
Newlyweds Beyonce and Jay-Z landed at the Nice airport yesterday, sunglasses on and looking ready for a relaxing French Riviera vacation. Beyonce wore some fab cruisewear and neon nails yet again, although the combination was much more subdued than her greener choice from last week. Still no sign of a baby bump yet, although Beyonce made sure to prevent us from getting a closer look. These two are no strangers to livin' it up on vacation so maybe they're taking this opportunity to get in that honeymoon they never had.

Beyonce Gets ‘Obsessed’ For Next Film Role

The movie stars
Beyonce Knowles (hot) and Ali Larter (also hot), so what should the makers of “Obsessed” put on their posters when the film gets released next year?
“A great movie,” said star Idris Elba, adding with a smile. “Even if it has the ugliest cast you’ve ever seen in your life!”
Ok, so he’s kidding about the stars being ugly (duh), but Beyonce and Larter do both get their hands pretty dirty pretty quick, Elba revealed, in a plot that purposively recalls “Fatal Attraction.” Without the rabbit stew, unfortunately, but “Fatal Attraction” nonetheless.
“Beyonce and I are a married couple and a temp that works at my office ends up falling in love with me and it all goes crazy,” Elba said of the fim’s set-up, which pits the two ladies against each other in chilling love triangle. “It’s a thriller.”
But while the plot may sound familiar, the Beyonce you’ll see will be anything but, Elba insisted. Indeed, “Obsessed” is really the actress’s first role that doesn’t include singing (”Dreamgirls” and “Cadillac Records”) or, well, being an idiot. (”Austin Powers.”)
So how does the once and future chanteuse hold up?
“That’s the question a lot of people are asking me. Can she pull it off,” Elba recalled. “And she can. She’s really good.”
Looking forward to seeing Beyonce in “Obsessed”?
