DUAL Leads ARE DAZZLING: Johnson’s 2005 AFC titles in receptions (97) and receiving yards (1432) marked the first
time for a
Bengal to
lead the conference in both categories at any
point, much less in the same season. Johnson has led the AFC in yards each of the last three
seasons. He is the only Bengal to do it more than once. Isaac
Curtis (1973) and
Eddie Brown (‘88) each led the AFC in receiving yards once, but neither won a catches title.
Carl Pickens is the only Bengal besides Johnson to lead the AFC in receptions for a full season, doing it in 1995 and ’96. But Pickens never led the AFC in yards. The Bengals have
yet to have a player lead the
NFL in receptions or receiving yards for a full season.
