Donovan McNabb Biography |
|
A threat as both a passer and an elusive scrambler, McNabbs uncanny playmaking abilities make him one of the most dangerous QBs in the NFL. After a sports hernia injury limited him to just nine games in 2005, McNabb was having a stellar 2006 campaign until he suffered a torn ACL vs. Ten. (11/19) and was placed on Injured Reserve two days later. SEASON HIGHLIGHTS: Threw an 84-yard TD bomb to WR Donté Stallworth vs. Was. (11/12). The touchdown strike was the 151st of his career as he passed Randall Cunningham to rank 2nd on the Eagles all-time list. He also threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to RB Correll Buckhalter, the 152nd touchdown pass of his career. Passed Randall Cunningham to rank 2nd on the Eagles all-time list for completions vs. Jax. (10/29) Went 35-22-302-3-3TDs passing at TB (10/22). His third TD pass was the 150th of his career, tying Randall Cunningham for 2nd on the Eagles all-time list. Also rushed for 76 yards on 6 attempts Played in his 100th NFL game at NO (10/15) and went 32-19-247-1-2TDs Became the first QB in NFL history with 1500+ yards and 10+ touchdowns with no more than one interception through the first five games of a season Passed for a season-high 354 yards and 2 TDs for a passer rating of 112.4, and also ran for a TD vs. Dal. (10/8). Threw for 288 yards and two touchdowns, completing 16-30 passes to eight different receivers for a passer rating of 108.8 vs. GB (10/2). In addition, rushed for 47 yards on 5 attempts for a career-high 2 TDs, passing former Eagles RB Duce Staley for 6th on the team's all-time list with 23 rushing TDs Completed 18 of 33 passes for 296 yards and 2 TDs as he spread the ball around to seven different receivers for a passer rating of 105.1 at SF (9/24) Went 45-27-350-0-2TDs as he spread the ball around to nine different receivers for a QB rating of 99.3 vs. NYG (9/17). With his performance, became the 7th player in NFL history to top both the 20,000-yard passing plateau and the 2,500-yard rushing plateau. In his first return to game action since last years injury vs. Dal.(11/14/05), threw for 314 yards and 3 TDs on 24-35 passing as he spread the ball around to seven different receivers for a QB rating of 113.3 at Hou. (9/10)
A multi-dimensional threat from the quarterback position, Donovan McNabb can make plays with his arm, his feet, his strength, his toughness and his creativity. His leadership and uncanny play-making ability have helped raise the standards of success of this franchise since 1999, when the Eagles chose him with the second overall pick in the draft. Along the way, McNabb has become one of the NFL's most recognizable and elite players, and was rewarded with a lucrative, 12-year contract extension in 2002. And although he has led the Eagles to a Super Bowl, four NFC Championship game appearances and more postseason wins (7) than any other quarterback in team history, McNabb, a five- time Pro Bowl selection, has his eyes focused on even loftier goals.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Entering 2006, he ranked third on the Eagles all-time career lists in each of the four major passing categories: yards (19,433), TDs (134), attempts (2,921) and completions (1,718) ranked 1st in the NFL in attempts (357), 2nd in yards (2,507), 2nd in completions (211) and t-3rd in passing TDs (16) through week 10 of 2005, when he was injured vs. Dal. On third-down attempts, completed 66.7 percent (18 of 27) for 330 yds. with a 133.3 QB rating (tops in the NFL). It was the fourth straight year he had been named Player of the Month at least once. Playing through injuries, McNabb was 30-52 passing for 365 yards and 2 TDs, with an especially stellar second half performance (28-19-266-0-2TDs) vs. Oak. (9/26/05).
