Shaun White Biography
Shaun White has been snowboarding since as early as 1990. You can actually see a photo from 1990 in the currentBurton catalog of Shaun rocking a purple helmet and hardboots. White, born September 3, 1986, has been terrorizing mountains since the beginning. Because he was progressing too quickly, White claims that his parents told him to rideswitch to slow him down. Ironically, this attempt to handicap him made possible was one of the factors that made him one of the best snowboarders in the world.
Shaun White didn’t official go “professional” until the age of sixteen; however, you can catch glimpses of Shaun White in early snowboard videos: Standard Films TB series. White has been dominating the X-Games circuit as early as 2002, and has won numerous Silver and Gold medals(the golds outnumbering the silvers) in halfpipe and slopestyle competitions. Since the world wasn’t aware enough of Shaun White before, he topped his list of medals with an Olympic Gold Medal at the 2006 Torino Games.
Even more fascinating, White is also a professional skateboarder. Supposedly, he has heavy influence and contact with Tony Hawk, which explains a lot. His skateboarding experience is just as old as his snowboarding and to showthe world his diversified board skills, he took a Silver Medal at the X-Games in 2005 for skate halfpipe.
