WHY IS SHE FAMOUS?
Unless you're living under a rock, you know that Britney Spears is one of the most popular female artists on the planet, with worldwide sales topping the 20 million mark. While her biggest hit continues to be her first, "...Baby One More Time," Britney's music still invades the airwaves and MTV, and her face is constantly in the tabloids.
Britney Spears has sold well over 20 million records worldwide, and she made history as the youngest female artist to have her debut single and debut album (...Baby One More Time) top the Billboardcharts in the same week. At 18, she had another No. 1 album on her hands,Oops!... I Did It Again, and in 2001 Britney was released, shocking audiences with the provocative video for "Slave 4 U."
Biography: Spears was born December 2, 1981, in Kentwood Louisiana. The daughter of Lynne, an elementary school teacher, and Jamie, a construction contractor, Spears auditioned for the Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse Club at the age of 8.
Producers for the show decided she was too young, but one was impressed enough to help her find an agent in New York.
Accompanied by her mother and younger sister, Spears lived in Manhattan for the next several summers, studying at the Professional Performing Arts School.
In 1991, she landed a part as a demonic child in Ruthless, an off-Broadway production based on the 1956 horror film, The Bad Seed.
At age 11, Spears auditioned again, this time successfully, for the Mickey Mouse Club. For the 1993 and 1994 seasons, she lived in Orlando, Florida, where the show is filmed, in a dorm with the rest of the cast—including two future members of the group ‘N Sync and Keri Russell, future star of the WB’s Felicity.
'Circus' The single had the biggest opening week sales by a female artist since 2003, when the tracking of digital downloads began, NME reported. Downloads of the track surpassed 286,000 in the first week, the magazine said.
But only time will tell, music experts said, whether this comeback can put the pop star back on top for good.

There are rumours circulating that Britney could be planning a massive come back tour. There have even been mentions of figures, that Britney would pocket $100 million from the world tour.
Britney is also receiving support from her record label BMG who are confident that she can restore her squeaky-clean image on the road. Britney has reportedly begin training for her tour at the Millenium Dance Studios.
Britney Spears' son Jayden James' recent hospitalisation was down to an allergic reaction to fried chicken, doctors believe.
The two-year-old tot - who was rushed to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Kentwood, Louisiana, on Sunday (09.11.08) after suffering a suspected seizure and going into a "vague and unresponsive state" - had eaten the food from a nearby takeaway establishment an hour before falling ill.
While he was at the medical centre, doctors performed a variety of tests on Jayden in a bid to discover what had caused the terrifying reaction.
A statement posted on Britney's website yesterday (11.11.08) read: "Doctors concluded he had a reaction to something he ingested."
Footage of Britney's much talked about TV appearance on US sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother' has surfaced on You Tube, after the show aired on TV in the US last night.
Britney plays 'Abby', the receptionist at Ted's dermatologist's office, and the general consensus seems to be that she did a pretty great job!
Security was stepped up a notch on set, but Britney's co-stars couldn't speak ill of her. "I was surprised how funny she is, I mean she just nailed her jokes," Alyson Hannigan, who plays Lily in the series told Access Hollywood. "She's really playing a character, and it's so sweet and so endearing, and I just - I love her!"
