He and Linda travelled to Nigeria in the early 1990s discovering ancestral ties to the Zekkariyas ethnic group. In the 90s they adopted the tribal names "Zekkariyas" (Cecil) and "Zeriiya" (Linda). He and his wife, Linda M. Womack, are known as the songwriting team "Womack & Womack" and have penned hundreds of songs for a variety of artists, among them are Jazz guitarist-vocalist George Benson, Chaka Khan, Teddy Pendergrass and Bobby Womack.
