Mini Biography
Cheri Lovedog was the founder, singer, songwriter and guitar player for 'Lovedog', an all girl punk rock band that played the LA club scene from 1980-93; opening for such bands as Jane's Addiction, Guns and Roses, Hole, L7, The Descendents, TSOL and X. Between 1985-87 Cheri wrote a column for the Los Angeles Rock Review called "Hollywood Trash and Tinsel." She is a self-published author, selling numerous copies of her book 18 Stories, and has won several awards for her writing. Her semi-autobiographical play, Prey for Rock & Roll, was produced by FatChance Productions and ran off-off Broadway at the legendary punk club CBGB in New York City the summer of 2000, with her in the lead role of Jacki. The independent film version of the play features Gina Gershon, Lori Petty, Drea DeMatteo, Shelly Cole, Ivan Martin and Marc Blucas. The film's soundtrack was written by Cheri and produced by Stephen Trask, co-creator of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The soundtrack features Cheri Lovedog, Sara Lee (Gang of Four, Indigo Girls and B52's), Sam Maloney (Hole, Motley Crue) GinaVolple (Lunachicks) and Stephen Trask. Prey for Rock & Roll had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2003. Cheri is writing her next screenplay, "The Jesus Factor" in her hometown of Santa Cruz, California, where she is co-owner of the award winning Lovedog Tattoo Studio art gallery. She is also a damn fine poker player.
