Trivia
Attended acting lessons at the Folkwangschule in Essen. After playing the rebellious son-in-law Michael on "Herz und eine Seele, Ein" (1973), the Geman version of "All in the Family" (1971)'s Michael Stivic, he became one of the most popular TV actors. Although best known as comedian, he was a versatile actor, who liked to play bad guys in hit shows such as "Derrick" (1974). Wrote singer Herbert Grönemeyer's hit "Currywurst". Had two sons with his wife Bettina, Moritz (born on 28 September 1979) and Till(born in 1986). Reached #3 in Germany's Single Charts with the song "Ich bin der Martin, ne (Martin, my love)", dealing with his longtime stage character "Martin", an environment activist.
