Mini Biography
DUI (Driven Under the Influence) was started by Kevin Allesee in 1997. After many member changes and little progress, the band finally converged when Gin and Nikoma joined. Within a week or so of practicing, the band recorded a demo tape on Kevin's back porch in the pouring rain using a boom-box. After a month, DUI started playing shows, and within 6 months, had recorded a split 7" with Chachi on Acid, a full length CD, and several compilations. Nikoma left for college, and was replaced by Derek Gunther. For a brief period, Gin left the band, but returned just in time to go on an east coast tour. The first half of the tour was with Oppressed Logic (Oakland, California) and the second half of the tour was supposed to be with Majority Rule (VA), but as luck would have it the band got stranded when their van broke down before making it to Maryland to complete the second half of the tour. Kevin, Gin, Derek, and Rory (roadie) had many interesting adventures along the way, but the strain of being stranded on tour was the last straw and practically ended what was DUI. Thanks to everyone for all your support. Even though this band was short-lived, it sparked something in at least three individuals which will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
