Avnet, Inc. (Avnet) is an industrial distributor of electronic components, enterprise network and computer products and embedded subsystems. Avnet provides engineering design, materials management and logistics services, system integration and configuration, and supply chain advisory services. Avnet has two primary operating groups: Electronics Marketing (EM) and Technology Solutions (TS). Both operating groups have operations in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and Asia. On July 5, 2005, the Company completed the acquisition of Memec Group Holdings Limited (Memec), a global distributor that markets and sells a portfolio of semiconductor devices from suppliers. During the fiscal year ended July 1, 2006 (fiscal 2006), it divested two small TS businesses and non-core EM businesses in EMEA. In January 2007, the Company completed the acquisition of Access Distribution, a General Electric company and value-added distributor of complex computing solutions.
