Mini Biography

Composer, author, conductor and songwriter ("A Faded Summer Love"), he was educated at Daniel Baker College. During World War I he was a member of the Mare Island Navy Yard orchestra. Later he organized his own band, the Texas Tommies. Joining ASCAP in 1931, he collaborated musically with Billy Rose, Gus Kahn, Joseph Young and Cliff Friend. His other popular-song compositions include "Piccolo Pete", "Going, Going, Gone", "The One Man Band", "'Leven Miles from Leavenworth", "Smile For Me", "Five Piece Band", "Let's Have a Party", "Harmonica Harry", "You're the Sweetest Girl", "Have a Little Dream on Me", and "I'm a Ding Dong Daddy from Dumas".
