Last wish to see his showbiz friends German Moreno, Dolphy, deposed President Joseph Estrada and then presidential candidate Fernando Poe Jr., was unfulfilled. Children (with wife Consuelo Manlapaz): Romeo, Rosita, Rosalinda and Raquel. Popular comedian from the late '50s until the early '80s, appearing in stage shows, television and movies. Used to impersonate Philippine president Diosdado Macapagal during his stage performances. Diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2001. A stroke due to high blood pressure paralyzed half of Manlapaz's body in 1990. He has been in a wheelchair since then.
