US Senate has finally approved former Washington governor

as the first Chinese-American to chair the commerce department.

The senators on Capitol Hill unanimously confirmed the 59-year-old Locke to head the department that outlines US trade policies with countries overseas.

The Seattle-born Yale graduate of Chinese descent told the Senate upon the hearing session that he believed in fair trade more than free trade.
