The famous NBC Peacock Logo has meant entertainment and information to Americans since 1926.



Perhaps no other symbol (the rainbow peacock) or sound the distinctive three note "NBC Chime" has done more to entertain and inform the Americian public. Formed by RCA in 1926 the National Broadcast Company enjoyed early sucess with George Burns, Bob Hope and Jack Benny, so much that the FCC forced NBC to split due to antimonopoly laws and the second half went onto become ABC.

NBC was originally a Radio powerhouse with the television side being primarially a marketing device used by parent company RCA. All of that began to change at the 1939 Worlds Fair when Franklin Delano Roosevelt became the first president to appear on TV. In the 60's the Rose Rose Bowl became the first? NCAA football game to be Broadcast in Color.
