Steve Beresford plays piano and toy electronics to Han Bennink's percussion on this album strikingly decorated with Bennink's distinctive artwork. Two of the four tracks on the live album were recorded in Mahogany Hall, Edam, Holland (February 24, 2000), while the other two come from a performance at BIMhuis in Amsterdam (February 17, 2000). Playful as they are creative, this duo orbits around each other's wacky and unexpected sounds. The result is surprising and fun. Come with an open mind. ...
B and O Blues B and O Blues
The music of Amos Easton (Bumble Bee Slim) provides a neat bridge between Southern country blues and the urban Chicago-style blues that featured tight, propulsive combos. Slim wasn't as edgy as Big Bill Broonzy, say, or Muddy Waters, but he was every bit a modernist, allowing his easy, laconic vocal style to bring tremendous warmth, humor, and personality to his material, making songs like the loose and breezy "Everybody's Fishing" almost impossible to resist. Also included here is a glimpse ...
B at Home B at Home
In a marvelous spirit of casual honesty, Ann Arbor pianist Mister B., publicly identifying himself as Mark Lincoln Braun, presents an hour-long album of unedited solos recorded at home in June, 2004 on his then-newly acquired 1924 Model L piano. A Steinway Model L is classed in with the largest of the baby grand pianos. B could tell us even more about the Model L and how it's put together, for he is an accomplished carpenter and builder as well as an awe-inspiring pitcher of baseballs. B woul...

B Flat Swing B Flat Swing
One of pianist Teddy Wilson's lesser-known bands is the sextet he led during 1940-44, shortly after his orchestra broke up and before he cut back to a trio. This unit, well featured on this Jazz Archives LP, by 1944 featured trumpeter Emmett Berry, trombonist Benny Morton and clarinetist Edmond Hall and played swinging versions of standards. The contents of this LP are taken from a session recorded for play on radio, and unlike the studio recordings of the era, many of these performances are ...

B Is for Silver Sun B Is for Silver Sun
Another Japanese-only compilation of B-sides, this 11-track album is as impressive as the two that came before it. Great songs, great harmonies, and a powerhouse guitar attack that embraces you and shakes you off of your foundation. This time, all the tracks were taken from the two-part U.K. singles for "Golden Skin," "Julia" and one from the re-released "Lava." "She'll Do" appears on CD here for the first time, having been previously only available on vinyl. There are no songs on this releas...
B Phur Real B Phur Real
Here we go again with the off-the-wall spellings...more listenable modern work from the Chicago guitarist, who's found his groove again after quite a few years of less than enthralling releases.
