E 1999 Eternal Following the surprise success of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's summer 1994 anthem "Thuggish Ruggish Bone," the group returned a year later with E 1999 Eternal, an impressive debut full-length that dismisses any notion that the group was merely a one-hit wonder. Instead, Caldas is famous for his work in Brazilian bossa nova offshoot genres like MPB and Tropicalia. The songs on this album are rather unspectacular from a technical standpoint -- the guitar work is barely audible on some tracks. But the songs are very well written, with a general smoothness and laid-back approach that compliments the soulful melodies quite well. Caldas may not a... |
