B*Witched B*Witched
The youngest girl group ever to notch a number one single on the UK pop charts, Ireland's teen quartet B*Witched comprised vocalist Edele Lynch, her guitar-playing twin sister Keavy, keyboardist Sinead O'Caroll and guitarist Lindsay Armaou. Drawing inspiration from the success of the Lynch sisters' brother Shane -- a member of Boyzone -- the group took to extensive rehearsal and writing sessions before signing with the Glow Worm label, headed by producer Ray Hedges (known for his work with Bo...
B-Legit B-Legit
B-Legit (aka the Savage) had previously performed with the Click before striking out on his own with 1995's Tryin' to Get a Buck. For his second release, 1996's Hemp Museum, he moved to Jive Records and worked with E-40 and Kurupt (the Dogg Pound); Ghetto Smile followed in 1997, and two years later B-Legit resurfaced with Hempin' Ain't Easy and then Hempin' in mid-2000.

B.B. King B.B. King
Universally hailed as the reigning king of the blues, the legendary B.B. King is without a doubt the single most important electric guitarist of the last half century. A contemporary blues guitar solo without at least a couple of recognizable King-inspired bent notes is all but unimaginable, and he remains a supremely confident singer capable of wringing every nuance from any lyric (and he's tried his hand at many an unlikely song, anybody recall his version of "Love Me Tender?"). Yet B.B. ...
B.B.E. B.B.E.
Inspired equally by trance and new age music, the dream-house unit BBE was formed in 1996 by producers Bruno Sanchioni, Bruno Quartier and Emmanuel Top. The trio of French techno experts came together with a debut single, "Seven Days in One Week," which became a hit at clubs from Ibiza to London and ascended into the Top Five of the British charts. Though Quartier left immediately after the single's success, Sanchioni and Top's follow-up "Flash" also hit the Top Five, alongside similar tunes ...
B.E.F. B.E.F.
The production arm of early synth-popsters Heaven 17 and occasionally a recording entity in its own right, B.E.F. (or British Electric Foundation) was formed by Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh just after their exit from the original lineup of the Human League. Ware and Marsh had formed the Human League in 1977 as a completely electronic synthesizer band. After adding vocalist Philip Oakey and Adrian Wright, the group released the seminal 1978 single "Being Boiled" and two LPs, 1979's Reproduc...
B.F. Shelton B.F. Shelton
B.F. (Frank) Shelton is known for four sides he recorded for Victor Records at the famous Bristol Sessions in Bristol, TN, on July 29, 1927. Three tracks ("Darling Cora," "Pretty Polly," "Oh Molly Dear") featured modal banjo tunings and an eerie, archaic sound only slightly less dark and haunting than the more famous tracks made by blues banjoist Dock Boggs in the same era. A fourth track from the session, "Cold Penitentiary Blues," may have been learned by Shelton in prison. Born in 1902 in ...
B.G. The Prince of Rap B.G. The Prince of Rap
B.G. the Prince of Rap sang in stage productions and choirs while growing up in Washington, D.C., but enrolled in the military soon after graduation. By 1985, he was serving in Germany, and gradually became interested in rap instead of the R&B he had listened to as a child. He began performing in Frankfurt, and won several rapping competitions; his first single, "Rap to the World" (given dancefloor energy by Jam & Spoon's Jam El Mar and second producer Stefan Benz), scored in German clubs. "T...
B.J. Cole B.J. Cole
Born on June 17, 1946, in London, B.J. Cole was inspired by the instrumental work of the Shadows' Hank Marvin, and picked up a guitar. He worked his way through various versions of the instrument, eventually settling on pedal-steel guitar. During the 1970s, Cole was a sought-after session man, playing alongside Elton John, Scott Walker, T. Rex, and Nazareth, among others. He also founded the post-psychedelic, country-influenced combo Cochise in 1970, and released three albums with the group. ...
