Comparison SecondLife-Weblo

By:  BAVARIA -- May 03, 2007 12:05:25  Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes
this is the population of SecondLife from mid 2005 onwards...now they have 6m members, up from only 19,000 20 months ago. Weblo stands close to 20,000 as of today... 2005 May 19,856 2005 June 22,075 2005 July 26,276 2005 August 28,854 2005 September 38,952 2005 October 52,857 2005 November 64,949 2005 December 77,551 2006 January 95,769 2006 February 112,118 2006 March 128,136 2006 April 155,644 2006 May 180,309 2006 June 234,691 2006 July 297,240 2006 August 401,535 2006 September 525,262 2006 October 773,479 2006 November 1,089,643 2006 December 1,422,846 2007 January 1,974,607 2007 Mai 6,000,000 Our growth rate is actually faster than SecondLife's was at the time, partly i guess because weblo is easier to use...thoughts on that??

While ease of use is definitely a factor in the adoption, Weblo and many other sites owe at least some of the popularity to the hype surrounding Second Life. For instance, I found this rather by accident, because I have an RSS feed that scours for Second Life and virtual community news.

thanks can_green, everyone should really check out the Alexa graphs! as weblo grows we will quickly move up the ladder! BTW I just bought all the big cities left in Spain, all of them between 100,000 and 250,000 inhabitants....Europe seems quite harvested now, not much left here in terms of size!

Weblo is far easier to use than SL and you don't need to spend hours here to build an empire. I also enjoy meeting people at Weblo, exchanging ideas, making contacts or just building friendships. I've been less active lately, buying more than developint, but I intend to get back into things soon. Check out the Weblo Alexa.com Headquarters if you are interested inWeblo's traffic rank and trends.

"I still envision more than just the monetary side of all of this and would hope to see it grow into an important virtual hub to the RealWorld where we can all connect and share our interests and dreams" Absolutely right webloman, these are just my thougths...i started this with the intention to make money, but now the fun factor for me is almost more important! this could really become a great place for people from all over the world to connect, learn and discuss!!! and as for language, no problem, everyone speaks english anyway, and with automatic translation becoming more and more sophisticated (live voice chat!!!) things will become even more interesting! gosh i see so many opportunities here!!!

Although my business keeps me away from WebloWorld I'm glad I took the time to get involved last fall. This comming fall I hope to see similar growth pattern as S.L. showed in it's early months. I too agree that there is a certain no nonsense aspect to those involved here and it is these members who will ultimately direct the evolvement of this virtual investment vehicle. I still envision more than just the monetary side of all of this and would hope to see it grow into an important virtual hub to the RealWorld where we can all connect and share our interests and dreams. I'm still uncertain how language barriers are going to be bridged but it's all about overcoming obstacles for the true world builders out there isn't it?...^0^

Well I was never attracted to secondlife or game on line...but weblo I don't know seems like the right thing!! & yes It is for more serious people...second life looks like a place for pervert lol! (From wath I saw) :) ZARA!

very true my lord, i think weblo attracts far more "serious" people than other virtual worlds...i for one could see no use for myself walking around in secondlife, talking to pixel creatures...unless it involves an investment aspect...like bying land...but land in secondlife is in infinite supply, which does not bode well for a good investment IMO (unless you build something really nice on it)...things are different on weblo of course, and that's precisely why i am here:-) there are soooooooooo many possibilities to develop this, we are just at the beginning!!

If second-life is like being a Sim in The Sims, then in comparison, Weblo is like being an Investment Consultant at the NYSE!

right, i agree, its much easier to become a big owner on weblo...if they want to upgrade to 3D some time in the future, they could still do it...i would love for example to have my assets visualized, in a 3D google map...the city of berlin has developed a pretty impressive 3D map of the whole city, and i think on google 3d maps users are working at the moment on creating the whole world in 3d...could take some time, but this is the future!! i am pretty sure weblo will seek a cooperation or so once that is more developed...

I think the non-immersive nature of Weblo is a big advantage. Second Life, I have to dress myself and build a house. Weblo, I just buy things I like.
