Olympian Kerri Walsh Expecting First Child

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh is pregnant with her first child, the beach volleyball superstar confirmed in an exclusive interview with Billy Bush for Access Hollywood and “The Billy Bush Show.”
“I’m chubby and I’m pregnant and it’s awesome!” Kerri told Billy on Wednesday morning.
And as it turns out, a gold medal wasn’t the only thing Kerri and husband Casey Jennings brought home from the games in Beijing.
“How pregnant are you?” Billy asked.
“About 16-and-a-half weeks,” she revealed.
“Let’s do the math… that goes back to about the beginning of August,” Billy noted.
“Well, they way they date pregnancies is a little bit confusion. We believe we conceived during our last days in Beijing, or about a couple of days after we won the gold medal.”
But Billy challenged her on the math.
“I don’t think so!” he said jokingly with her. “If it’s sixteen-and-a-half weeks, that’s one week into August! Kerri, have you considered honestly that you were pregnant at the time when you won the gold medal?”
“I think it’s impossible, but you never know!” she admitted. “I don’t want to get into all of the details, but I’m pretty sure it was a couple of days after.”
Fresh off her gold medal victory, Kerri and Casey spoke with Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson on the scene in Beijing about the win and their possible plans for a family.
“So is this now the time?” Shaun asked the couple, hinting at expanding their family.
“I’m in!” Kerri beamed.
“Yea, that would be a third gold medal, wouldn’t it?” Casey smiled.
But for anyone shopping for a baby gift for the happy couple, blue may be the way to go – although Kerri can’t say for sure.
“We don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl, and we aren’t trying to find out,” Kerri told Billy. “We have a feeling it’s a boy, but we’re going to find out the traditional way.”
As she prepares for motherhood, the biggest adjustment for the tall, slender Kerri has been getting used to her new baby body.
“I’m used to living my life in a bikini and I’m definitely not bikini-ready,” she joked with Billy. “I think the chubbiness is all relative, but it’s for the very best cause in the whole world, and I’m proud of it. I’m just going to stay off the beach for a while, how about that?”
And there might even be a new legacy of beach volleyball players in the making, as Kerri suggested her volleyball partner, Misty May-Treanor, is looking to expand her family as well.
“Is she the baby’s godmother?” Billy asked.
“I have too big of a blood family to do that, but she’s my blood-sister in so many ways, she’s Auntie Misty for sure!” Kerri said.
“Let me ask you this … is SHE pregnant?!” Billy inquired.
“Look at you!” Kerri replied in response to Billy’s hefty gumption. “Give her a call! How about that?! … I know that she’s trying, and that’s all I can say!”

Chicago has officially joined the likes of Rio de Janiero Brazil, Tokyo Japan & The Prague Czech Republic as the Cities competing for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Battling Los Angeles California for the U.S. representation, it was finalized by the U.S. Olympic Committee last April 2007.
?We look forward to working with the International Olympic Committee in convincing them why we believe Chicago is the best host city,? Mayor Richard Daley said while acknowledging ?tough competition? from some of the ?greatest cities in the world.? Chicago officials were upbeat about the success of an Olympics in a city enamored of its sports teams.
The U.S. Olympic Committee will still need to fill in the paperwork and wait till June 2009 when the International Olympic Committee will officially announce whether Chicago, Rio de Janiero Brazil, Tokyo Japan, The Prague Czech Republic or other applicant cities won the right to host the 2016 Olympic Games.
