Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino

Someone was wondering why I failed to discuss The Palazzo while in Vegas last week. For those who aren't up on all things Strip, this is The Venetian's new resort-within-a-resort. I don't know, really. I was there. Twice.

All I can say is that it is just more Venetian. But even the lobby and hallway into the casino -- the main selling point of the pre-existing resort for me -- is muted and dull. To say nothing of the casino.

There will be some selling points. The rooms are hot, which these days is a prerequisite. Jersey Boys has a home here for the time being, and Barney's New York is opening next week. Batali, Puck, Trotter, Emeril are attached to cook. There's a Dos Caminos, too.

Plus, the Grand Canal Shoppes will extend seamlessly into the Palazzo shops, on the same level - upstairs, above the casino. We'll have someone there for the grand opening next week to check it all out properly. But for the mean time, on the whole, prepare for your socks not to be knocked off.

I will say this, though -- beats having to pass a construction site on your way to Wynn. Nice infill job. But I don't think that's the compliment Mr. Adelson is looking for.
