Acclaim Entertainment develops, publishes, markets and distributes, under its brand names, interactive entertainment software for a variety of hardware platforms, including Sony's PlayStation 2, Microsoft's Xbox and, on a more limited basis, Nintendo's GameCube and Game Boy Advance and personal computer (PCs) systems. The Company internally develops its software products through five software development studios located in the United States and the United Kingdom. Acclaim also contracts with independent software developers to create software products for the Company. Through subsidiaries in North America, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain and Australia, Acclaim distributes its software products directly to retailers and other outlets, and the Company also utilizes regional distributors outside those territories to distribute and market its software to many other territories throughout the world.
