Newsweek is one of the top three news weeklies in the US. Newsweek has a circulation of more than 3 million readers in the US and Canada. The magazine has some 20 news bureaus located worldwide and publishes nearly a dozen international editions.

Newsweek was founded by Thomas J.C. Martyn, a former editor at Time magazine who wanted to strike up some competition. He published the first issue, then called News-Week, in 1933.
