The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is on a mission to assure the safety and health of the American workforce. OSHA establishes safety standards and provides enforcement, training, and incentives. It partners with states to put 2,100 inspectors on the job through more than 200 offices nationwide. All workers, except miners, transportation workers, public employees, and the self-employed, fall under the protection of OSHA. The agency publishes a long list of guides and fact sheets, including "What to Expect During OSHA's Visit." The agency, part of the US Department of Labor, was created in 1971 by the Occupational Health and Safety Act.�
