Completed in 1899, Toronto now had her third city hall. The structure was used as the city's centre of operations until the completion of the current city hall building in 1965. At the time of completion, old city hall was the tallest structure in the city, and the tallest municipal structure in North America with the bell tower coming in at just over 103 meters(300 ft). The structure is a prominant landmark in downtown toronto, and has been declared a National Historic Site. Today, the structure is used by the provincial and municipal courts.
