Message from the Owner of Texas State Capitol Building
The Texas State Capitol is right in the middle of down-town Austin, closeby to University of Texas - Austin, Town Lake, and many of the best restaurants, bars, and live music venues in the state! If you ever get a chance, it is a great place to visit on a nice Texan day, to get a feel for the proud history of Texas as well as observe the beautiful architecture and scenery of the Capitol Ground. There are even times when you can listen in on the Senate and House while they are in session. For more info go to: http://www.tspb.state.tx.us/CVC/home/home.html
Texas State Capitol Building Description
The Texas Capitol is a historic landmark and one of the most distinguished state capitols. Completed in 1888 in the Renaissance Revival style, the capitol was paid for in land (3 million acres) instead of money. It is larger in gross square footage than any other state capitol and is second in size only to the National Capitol. Since 1993 one extension and two renovations have been completed to preserve the historic beauty and significance of the Texas State Capitol while vastly improving its functionality to provide a premium location for the convening of the Texas Legislature.
