Denali is a big place--6 million square acres, bigger than Massachusettes. In the heart of it is nestled Mt. McKinley, known to Alaskan Indians as Mt. Denali, "The Great One," the highest peak on our continent. Alaska may seem like foreign country to us, but it belongs to everyone, and we should be particularly proud that is a part of our country. Explore my personal photo gallery and absorb some of the visual wonders of this fantastic national park. If you desire to preserve Denali for future generations, please discuss your desires in the forum or take part in the polls. More Denali content is to come, so stay tuned.

Denali National Park and Preserve Description
The Earth's heart beats... but you must go to a place like Denali to hear it.
Nestled in the heart of Alaska, "The Great Land," Denali National Park covers more than 6 million square acres of pure wilderness, not lost, but perserved, in time. Its wolves, bears, eagles, moose, and other big animals thrive in a fully intact ecosystem without need of our help.
The park is open to visitors during the spring and summer months but closed down in September, when the harsh winter begins. It has but one road, approximately 92 miles long, winding at times precariously through the mountains until reaching at its furthest end the glorious Thoroughfare Pass, McKinley River valley, and much photographed Wonder Lake. The park is accessible with any vehicle up to a point near the entrance, beyond which only hikers and buses may go. Professional artists may also receive a pass via the road lottery to enter the park with their own means of transportation in the fall season.
Many come to Denali seeking refuge from the hectic world outside. They come to see free grizzly, grazing the tundra with cubs following behind. They come to witness the might and mass of bull moose, or see, at rare glimpse, the majestic beauty of a wild wolf. Above all, people hope not for a zoo, but a wild place where life flourishes on its own, a place where human interference is not only minimal, but unnecessary. It's a place that reflects true nature, the way things were created to be, the way we were created to be. Unchained. Friends, our only part in the Denali masterpiece is that of good stewards, to preserve and protect this gift of nature.
