Beautiful Beulah Park History:
Beulah Park was founded in Grove City, Ohio in 1923. B.P. is Ohio,s first and original Thoroughbred Racetrack. Thru this history you will see that B.P.has been the leading track of inovation in the U.S. Soon after opening a few Greyhound dog races were held here . This was kept very quiet as dog racing was illegal, these races were short lived.
1931-Regulation of Ohio wagering via para-mutual system under supervision of the Ohio Racing Commission.
1983-Beulah was the first track in Ohio to offer simulcast wagering on the Kentucky Derby. Also in 83 satellite was
installed so they could broadcast the Triple Crown event to local fans.
1984-The owner of Darby Downs raided the offices of Beulah and took all the records of horses winning percentages in order to upset wagering.
1986-Real-estate developer Charles J. Ruma purchased the track and invested over 12 million in foue years to renovate the track ( including track resurfacing, a new outdoor paddock and administrative offices).
1987-(The main page picture), Glacial Princess was buried in the infield with a plaque as a memorial. Glacial was a two time Ohio Horse of The Year in the early 1980's.
1991-Jockey's Mickey Solomone and Roberto Gonzalez were featured on Jockey Star cards.
1993-Beulah Park is the first track in Ohio to offer telephone betting on local and national races.
2000-The Beulah Park twins, Jenna and Katie reach a national audience. The TV show "Extra" does a special on their handicap prowess.
2004-Another first, as a wireless hotspot is added to the Starting Gate, in the upper grandstands.
2006-WinTicket.com is born:a 25 cent Pick 6 wager that will pay the major pool winner with the following basics of the bet. A U.S.A.first.
