Humberside Arpt Description |
|
Humberside Airport (IATA: HUY, ICAO: EGNJ) is situated in North Lincolnshire, England, 10 nautical miles (18.5 km) west of Grimsby and 15 miles (21 km) south of Kingston upon Hull, England on the A18. It is a small international airport, owned by the Manchester Airport Group who also own Manchester Airport. The airport faces strong competition for flights from East Midlands Airport (70 miles) and the newly opened Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield (28 miles); both of these airports offer substantially more scheduled flights than Humberside Airport. The airport has a very high amount of general aviation activity, with 5 resident flying clubs and organisations, this is due to the airport having some of the lowest landing and handling fees of its kind[citation needed]. It is a major operating base for helicopters flying to North Sea gas platforms. Humberside International has a CAA Public Use Aerodrome Licence (Number P739) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction. Source: Wikipedia
