|
Artem (Russian: Артём) is a town in Primorsky Krai, Russia, situated in the northern part of the Muravyov-Amursky Peninsula. Artem comprises a chain of small settlements paralleling the Vladivostok—Nakhodka highway, in which Vladivostok is 50km south along this Highway. It is built mainly with one-, two-, and five-story houses of stone and brick, though a comparatively large number of wooden private houses can be seen. Founded in 1924 near the Zybunny pit mine it is named after a famous revolutionary Artem Sergeyev. In 1938, it was granted town status. Artem comprises three former urban-type settlements: Uglovoye, Zavodskoy, and Artemovsky.
