Cleveland

Cleveland Tennessee is a city in and is the county seat of Bradley County. the city is located in southwest Tennessee almost on the Georgia line. the city has a population of nearly 39,000 residents. the city also has a distinct female advantage with 15% more females over the age of 18 vs men. 16% of this towns population is below the poverty level. Cleveland's land size is approx 25 square miles. The city is highly industrial as they have large manufacturing plants such as batterys, pharmacuticals,chemical plus more. Cleveland is home to Cleveland State Community College

There are several thoughts as to the city got its name. Some are the town was named after Cleveland England, or possibly for John Cleveland a original settler, maybe for Benjamin Cleveland a Revolutionary Soldier.          Red Clay Historic Park located just south of Cleveland. Events between 1832 and 1838 made Red Clay famous. In 1832 Georgia stripped the Great Cherokee Nation of their political soverginity, they were not allowed to meet or have any type of council. Georgia forced them to move to Red Clay. Here the Cherokees learned many of the white mans ways (reading, writing, english) it was not enough to satisfy the white man. Red Clay was the last Eastern Capital of the great Cherokee Nation. It was here where federal soldiers forcefully removed the Cherokee's and made them follow the Trail of Tears and shipped them all out west to reservations.
